The COVID-19 pandemic highlights the need for solutions journalism — rigorous reporting on responses to problems. An entire globe is facing the same challenges. We are all trying to stretch our medical care, educate our children, stave off hunger when an income disappears.
Communities are rapidly coming up with innovative responses. But we need to spread these ideas just as rapidly. One way is through solutions journalism: stories about how communities are responding, and what seems to be working. These high-quality, relevant stories can also help keep small, struggling newsrooms afloat in these trying times.
Solutions Journalism Network’s SoJo Exchange asks newsrooms around the world to make solutions stories available to any newsroom to republish free, as a public service. We gather those stories here — any newsroom may run any story on this page.
We’ve since expanded the story exchange to include solutions stories on any subject that might be of interest to other outlets.
